Jury Member of Queen Elisabeth Competition

  • Queen Elisabeth International Music Competition Rue aux Laines 20 1000 Brussels BELGIUM (map)

One of the most demanding and also one of the most widely publicised international competitions, the Queen Elisabeth Competition, ever since its creation in 1937, has established itself as a springboard for young violinists, pianists, singers, and cellists on the threshold of an international career. The Competition aims, above all, to serve as an intermediary between those young virtuosos and the world’s great musical venues.

In 2024, the Queen Elisabeth Competition will be dedicated to the violin for the twentieth time. The best young violinists from the four corners of the world will compete in Brussels, from 6 May to 12 June.

Throughout the Competition, the violinists interpret a diverse repertoire that spans various musical periods and styles. They also have to showcase their own interpretations of two imposed contemporary works, specially written for the Competition. One is part of the semi-final recital programme, the other - a work with orchestra accompaniment - has to be studied for the final without any external assistance during a week's stay at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel.
